Before the big kick-off, our team of journalists from across Europe picked a squad of 18 players to represent their respective Leagues.

The rules:
- Each team scores points based on how the chosen players perform in the World Cup.
- Players who have been selected in the starting XI will score points if they play 15 or more minutes.
- Substitutes will only score points if a member of the starting XI plays less than 15 minutes.
- Scoring System:
- All Players - Goal 10 points; Assist 8 points + Expert rating points
- Goalkeepers and Defenders - Clean sheet 10 points; Goal Conceded -4 points + above categories
